I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of living. Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:13, 14 (More)
A Response to Weeping . . . but Joy
He came one night, and the world did not know. In fact, the only ones who knew that night had to be told by the angels what had happened and where to go. Did any of them really know the significance of that night? The mother and her betrothed had a pretty good idea of what that night meant, but the others did not really understand. After all, they were just uneducated, filthy shepherds. No one special. Sort of like me. Sort of like you. No one special.

(More)You cannot change me anymore than you can change the direction from which the wind blows.
The storms of life are neither mere anomalies nor are they events designed to destroy us. At times the storm is meant to show us our desperate need for God. At other times the storm is meant to bring us back into a right relationship with God. At all times the storms of life declare to us the sovereign control of God in and over our lives and to do with us according to His good pleasure.
(More)There are moments in our lives when we must step back for a moment and recharge and refocus. This is one of those moments for me. I love writing and sharing my thoughts on Scripture and the Christian life and am humbled to think that God has used me to touch so many lives. Yet, for just a moment, I must step back from the writing.
I'll see you when it's time to come back. God Bless!!

To the One Who Loves the Prodigal
4 November 2008
My Dear Friend,
I am writing to you because I wish to be an encouragement to you who are praying for a prodigal son or daughter, husband or wife, or friend to come home. Because your prodigal has decided that his or her will is best satisfied by their own efforts they have wandered away from the only Satisfaction that fills the longing of the soul. I understand your frustration and hurt. I understand the helplessness of wondering when God is going to bring the prodigal home. I know because I am where you are. It certainly would be easier if God would simply take the prodigal home to heaven when they walk away, but God deserves the maximum glory and there is no better glory that that of a rebellious heart that has been captured and transformed by the Grace of God.

Dear Prodigal,
As I begin to write this to you I want you to know that you are loved by more people than you realize. The most important One is our Loving Father who provided the blood of His own Son to be our redemption from the penalty of sin.
So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
Luke 15:20
Over the last few months this passage of Scripture has become very dear to me. It is a passage that gives me great hope. It is also a passage that moves me deeply. It gives me a sure hope.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God.
Psalm 42:1
What do you desire? What is that all consuming need that just has to be fulfilled for you to be satisfied? Power? Fame? A spouse? Money? A position? A car? What is it? Be honest with yourself. It’s just you and God. I’m not asking that you e-mail me and let me know what it is that you desire most. I’m not even going to tell you what I desire most. But think about it for a moment, down there in your heart of hearts. Ask yourself, “What do I desire most? What is my insatiable thirst?” Let’s not pretend to be spiritual about this question. Remember, it’s just you and God going over the answer.
