Four Thoughts from the Crucible
But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, Let Him who boasts, boast in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:30, 31
In that dark and lonely place called the Crucible there is intense pain and pressure. The loneliness and darkness of that place is excruciatingly unbearable. There are times in the Crucible that death seems better than life – at least then the pain is gone. In that place of torture there is nothing to do but to wonder if you will survive and what you will be like when you emerge from the Crucible. It is easy in that place to blame others for being there. It is easy to lash out in pain at the ones you love and care for most. It is easy to completely miss the point of the Crucible.

More Precious than Diamonds
True Value . . . and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life . . .1 Peter 3:7
Have you ever watched the show on PBS where someone brings in an antique, and the appraiser talks about that item a little and then gives a value to that item? Sometimes, the person is amazed at the unexpected value of the heirloom or greatly disappointed. The truth is that value placed on an item is determined by how much someone is willing to pay for that item.

It's Your Responsibility, Husband
With Great Responsibility . . .
Do you remember the line in Spiderman where Peter Parker is sitting in the car with his uncle, and his uncle says, “With great power, comes great responsibility”? We all know that ordinary Peter Parker was given superhuman power with the bite of a radioactive spider. With that power he rescued the innocent and defeated the likes of the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus.

Ordinary Man . . . Extraordinary God
The last time I checked there are no super human beings. There is no Superman or Spiderman. Hate to break it to you, but superheroes are all the work of someone’s imagination. (More)

Sometimes He Calms the Storm
Sometimes He Calms the Storm
All who sail the sea of faith
Find out before too long
How quickly blue skies can grow dark
And gentle winds grow strong
Suddenly fear is like white water
Pounding on the soul
Still we sail on knowing
That our Lord is in control

What Does it Cost Me?
‘No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.’2 Samuel 24:24
Consider this for a moment, in a moment of pride, King David defied the will of God and took a census of Israel. God’s Word says that David’s heart was troubled and then he confessed his sin to God. God then told David what his options were. In the end, 70,000 died for David’s sin. Can you imagine the weight on David’s heart? His sin cost 70,000 lives! I think if David would have accepted Araunah’s offer to supply the necessary items for David’s sacrifice, it would have been utterly and completely rejected.

Bring Me, Lord, to Where I Must Be
On this road to revival of our own hearts it is important to understand one thing. Revival begins with a heart that is humbled before the Lord our Maker. Revival is not merely the awakening of heart, soul, and mind to the moving of the Holy Spirit, it is coming in repentance to the Judge of all men and bowing before Him in humility and subjection. Far to long we (the Church) have endured sin. We have tolerated it. We have coddled it. We have embraced it. Far to long we, as individuals in the church, have done the same. (More)

A Follow Up on Thyatira
I was planning to write something else today; however, my thoughts were directed in this avenue today. Men, if I have offended you with the comment of “milk toast, muffin eating, tea toddling mouse of a man” – then good. If you want to reach through the screen and throttle the nut case who wrote those words, great. But before you attempt all that, let me say something (I understand that you are not required to read past this point and read my opinion).

What is missing from Thyatira?
But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bondservants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. Revelation 2:20
Have you ever played those games where you have to determine what is missing in the pictures given to you to look at? It is pretty easy to pick out what is missing when there are four or five pictures. But, when you have a lot of pictures to look at, it is easy to miss what is different.
