“Because you say, ‘I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,’ and you do not know that you hare wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.”

Revelation 3:17

Hans Christian Anderson tells the tale of an emperor who lived for new clothes.  He unwittingly hired two swindlers to make him a fantastic suit of clothes worthy of the emperor.  It was to be a magical suit that was invisible to a man unworthy of his office but displayed in splendor and beauty on those of great worth.  This, of course, appealed to the emperor’s pride.  When the day came that the emperor’s new clothes were ready, he “put” them on and paraded through the city streets in the new “clothes.”  All the people marveled at the new clothes until a wise child cried out, “But he has nothing on at all.”  (More)

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18

Year after year the sphagnum moss encroaches on the once pristine lake.  Where once clear water ran, now only clouded brown water remains.  Where fish once jumped and swam, now only lifelessness remains.  Time marches on for the bog.  Each year leaves less of the lake and more of the bog.  Each year sees a smaller circle of water remain.  Though it is slow, the bog moss and the peat claim the lake.

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!Psalm 129:13-14, 17 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you . . .Jeremiah 1:5  (More)

When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long.  For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer. I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide;  I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD;”  And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:3-5  (More)

I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry.  He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.  How blessed is the man ho has made the LORD his trust . . .”Ps 40:1-2, 4a

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ . . .Eph 2:4, 5

I was spending some time with God this evening, and a thought dawned on me.  The love of God is great.

To whom then will you liken God?  Or what likeness will you compare with Him?  As for the idol, a craftsman casts it, a goldsmity plates it with gold, and a silversmith fashions chains of silver.  He who is too impoverished for such an offering selects a tree that does not rot; he seeks out for himself a skillful craftsman to prepare an idol that will not totter. Is 40:18-20 (More)

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty

Ps 91:1 (NASB)

In the most recent posts I’ve been writing about the Crucible.  It is a place that we often must endure as we journey toward a relationship with God that goes beyond the “Fire escape” salvation.  God created us to have a relationship with Him.  It was His desire with Adam and Eve.  It is His desire for us today.
